Bio:

Ross Cooperthwaite has been photographing significant commercial and residential architecture for over two decades since he first launched Cooperthwaite Photography in London in 2002.

From about the age of eight, Ross knew he wanted to be an architect. He set on that path and completed a two year BTEC diploma in construction, then went on to study architecture at Southbank University for his undergraduate Bachelors degree and Kingston University for the first year of the Post-Graduate course.

Ross always elected the photography courses while studying architecture and began photographing buildings and architectural models with 35mm film and then moved on to digital cameras and Photoshop as they became available.

It was on a post-graduate field trip to Oporto to study the works of Alvaro Siza that his passion for digital photography were cemented and with only one academic year left to go decided not to complete his architectural studies but instead follow the path of architectural photography.

In 2008, Cooperthwaite Photography would become Cooperthwaite Productions with the introduction of videography services and has since evolved into commercial, branding, TVC and documentary productions.

Over his career to date, Ross has established long standing collaborative relationships with his clients, some of whom have been in partnership with him for well over a decade. Ross prides himself on being easy to work with and part of the team.

“My goal on a shoot is to create impactful images that depict and reflect the juxtaposition of materials and architectural form to the contextual built environment or the human experience found in that space. We strive to help our clients win future projects, brand recognition and awards with our still and motion imagery.”.
